Krysten’s S.O.A.P.

SCRIPTURE-
Hebrews 13:17- “Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.”
OBSERVATION-
I observed that this chapter is about different directions on how to live our lives. One direction that stands out to me the most is obeying and respecting those in authority over you.
APPLICATION-
We should apply this verse to our lives by obeying and respecting those who rule over us. This includes our teachers! Like it says in the verse, they are just watching over us. Think about this, what reason do we have to even think about being disrespectful to them? They are all super nice and all of them would be there for us in a blink of an eye. If you don’t think this way about the teachers, that is completely fine. We all have different opinions, but let me ask you one question. Even if you don’t like a certain teacher what profit are you making by being disrespectful? You are not making a profit at all! It’s not worth it to get in trouble for doing something supposedly “cool” when the one you should be pleasing is God.
PRAYER-
Dear Lord,
I would just like to pray that you would change the hearts of the people that are being disrespectful. Please let them realize it’s not cool or funny to do things like this. Instead it’s just rude and also it isn’t allowing their love for you to show. It’s like being a hypocrite. They say they love you, but their actions don’t show it.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The volleyball team went on to compete in the CIF state volleyball play offs, and although they did not move on to state, they exemplified good sportsmanship. hard work, and showed the world that they play for one thing, and one thing alone, which is their Savior Jesus Christ. The yearbook staff, along with the rest of the KCS student body and staff would like to offer our sincere congratulations to each and every one of you atheletes, and thank you for always giving the glory to Him.

Last Saturday, the football played their best, but their opponnets also played as well. The final score was 36-34, the oppossing team with the victory. As the football team prepares for another game against the same team on Friday at 7:00pm in Riverdale, pray that they keep focused at their real goal to glorify God. If you can go, the team would greatly appreciate you cheering them on at the game.

Volleyball is having their Valley Championship game tomorrow against Sierra Pacific at 7:00pm here on campus. This is really important for the girls, no because of the potential title, but because of the chance they have to glorify God with many eyes on them. Pray for them tonight as they practice and both mentally and spiritually prepare themselves for tomorrow’s game. If you can, go out tomorrow night to watch and support the girls.

Last week the sophomore Biology class was asked to write a paper arguing the points of evolution. The following essay is a great example of the finished product written by French foreign exchange student Alexis Dewaele.

Creation Vs. Evolution

At the beginning of the term, I firmly believed in evolution. I believed in the fact that we were descendants of apes. Irealize now that I never searched how man could descend frm apes or what really is evolution. I now believe in a purposful design and so, that God created everything. In this essay, I will explain why evolution is nonsense.

Evolutionists are convinced that men descended from apes. Therefore they desperately need a proof for their theory. For many years and still today, the evolutionists are looking for a “transitional form” (or a “missing link”) between the ape and the human. In 1922, the “scientists” reconstructed a whole human being from a single fossil tooth found in Nebraska. They called this “man” Hesperopithecus, or Nebraska Man. Unfortunately; this “proof” of evolution had been taught during a few years before it was discovered that the fossil tooth was a fossil tooth from an extinct pig.

Evolutionists also thought the the Australopithecus (or “Southern Ape”) was the first “link” between ape and human. All kinds of of Australopithecus, like Australopithecus africanus, Australopithecus boisei or Australopithecus afarensis (Lucy), are in reality, extinct apes.

Evolution can only be proved if the evolutionsists find some transitional forms between two kinds of organisms. A transitional form is supposed to be a fossil that connects two kinds of organisms by a seris of tiny steps. If evolution was true, scientists should have found countless fossils of transtional forms, but today, none has been found. That is one of the greatests evidences against evolution. Furthermore, the existence of transitional forms is impossible.

Indeed, evoltionists believe that bats come from a small four-legged mammal which is similar to modern shrews. If we believe the evolutionist theory, bats’ wings should have appeared slowly over time. That is wrong. If bat wings wouls have appeared over time, the transtional form of the bats would have been a deformed monstrosity incapable to walk, run, hold food to its mouth and above all unable to fly which is the main function of wings.

Another fact to prove the impossibility of transitional forms, and by consequence, of evolution, is the difference an amphibian egg and a reptile egg. Evolutionists believe that amphibians rise to reptiles. An amphibian cell is composed of jelly, an egg membrane and an embryo. A reptile egg is much more complex. It is composed of an embryo, a yolk sac, albumin, chorion, amnion, and allantois. The embryo couldn’t have survived the gestation period if the reptile egg came from the amphibian egg by a series of successive slight modifications. Indeed, during this process, the reproductive system of the embryo and the structure of the egg would have been altered.

All these facts disprove the theory of evolution. It is obvious that the universe and the e of all lving beings are the result of a purposeful design. I interviewed one of my French friends (who is sixteen years old) to ask her if she believed in evolution or in creation. She answered me that she believes in evolution. I next asked her why and if she had searched by herself the truth or if she accepted what the society told her. She learned in biology that men have genes which are very similar to apes’ ones, and that we are the result of a series of genetic improvements. To her, the creation of the universe by God is impossible.

I also interviewed Mr. Thomas, a history teacher at Kings Christian High School. I ask him why he believes in purposeful design rather than evolution. He answered that the world couldn’t be like this only because of random changes. The magnificence of the creation, its’ complexity, its’ order are too beautiful to be due to some random changes. Every single man should believe in a purposeful design when they are looking at the creation.

God started a fire in us at camp, and the students of KCHS are continuing to stoke that fire. The attitude of worship during chapel has not ceased to inspire me while I’m leading our student body into God’s presence. Weekly chapels are great, but it’s important to do as much as we can to keep our focus on Christ.

If you feel the same way, come on out to morning devotions Thursday mornings at 8:00 in Dren’s room. We’ve had a good turn out so far, and it’d be great to have even more. We’ve discussed things like being joyful, Jesus’ insane sacrifice, and having an attitude of servant-hood. “It’s a good start to my day, and makes me feel like people are still on fire. It’s encouraging when people come,” says senior and SLT president, Megan Dombrowski.

Also on Thursdays, a group of us gather in Stipech’s room for a time of prayer during break. Have you ever heard BryAnn walking around yelling, “PRAYER THURSDAY!!!” ??? Well, this is what she’s talking about. We pray for the school, our nation, students, grades, sports… anything you need! But be warned, your hands will be squirted with hand sanitizer upon arrival. :)

Brenna’s S.O.A.P.
Proverbs 2:7-8

S- “He holds success in store for the upright, He is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for He guards the course of the just and protects the way of His faithful ones.”

O- The Lord rewards His disciples for following Him and obeying. Those who have righteous hearts will live with God being their Guide, not the foolish world.

A- I love verses that spark my inner passion to seek Him, and this is one of them (or two if we are being specific!). God gives us amazing promises to protect and plan lovely lives for us, and that just inspires me to be pure and good.

P- God, thank You for Your awesome presence! You’ll always promise to be here for me no matter what to teach me Your ways, and that is just a superb blessing! -Amen
